We have started our 2021 rebuild. I
Here are some pictures of the progress we are making on the car. The last night of racing hurt us bad with two accidents. Damage was mostly cosmetic.
At the end of the season the car was beat up pretty good. We got it ready for a show at Canadian Tire in Truro but its been moved until next year.

Chris White has been at every race and made every night to work on the car. His help and enthusiasm is what every car owner appreciates.

Every team needs at least one member who can add knowledge and craftsmanship to tedious jobs like fitting panels. Bob Landry was the first to join our team in Nova Scotia. Always coming to help during the week for maintenance, and learning a ton about Late Model cars. Another encouraging member of our team.

Bob and Chris remove the front bumper and rad shroud. I take pictures. I am letting them learn the car making it easier on them to be hands on and providing a great learning experience. Plus they're younger

Fitting the fenders is a time consuming part of replacing panels. They don't come pre fit, they have to be cut and fit, a very important job to make sure the fender openings are right, the line is right and the fenders fit with the front bumper.

Night 2
Tyler Hallahan was able to make it this night. What a great addition he has been to our team. Tyler jumped in as our head spotter, no experience and did a great job. We worked on fitting the front bumper on this night, matching it to the front fenders. Pretty close, the steel bumper could have been a little closer, but I will be fine.

Tyler removes the rear bumper cover. Not much damage there but installing a new one provides for a perfect body and gives us a great spare.

Once on the car the fenders had to be trimmed. This is also a crucial part of final lining up, so easy to accidentally cut too far. I took this job because none of the others had done it yet and I am very happy it turned out decent. :D

Once the fenders were trimmed, Tyler filed the edges carefully not to scratch or damage the surface that will be painted. Our competitors will most likely do that for us

Next will be
1) fit the new hood
2) trim the bottom of the nose
3) add hood pins and plates...drill the holes...better now than when painted
4) install the grille"
5) install the rear bumper cover
6) install new doors
7) install new rocker panels
8) plus stuff I forgot

More updates on our work progress. Fitting a body isn't easy. The good news for us is that most of the body was good, but the front fenders and nose are tough to get right on. Maybe the hood is the toughest of all because it comes much wider and longer than required. So with a jig saw, cut off grinder or whatever tool you decide to use, cutting the hood is both mess and so key to be accurate with measurements. If off, you might have to get another hood, or let the mistakes go, hoping paint, decals and stripes will cover up the miscalculations.
The other option is to send the car out, supply the body panels and come back in 2 weeks, and bring $3000 with you after someone else done it. Bottom line for us was to make this a learning experience, even though I have done this many times, but 2 heads are better than one, and three or four are better if they all have good ideas to make things fit. We chose to do this here and I am happy with the progress.....think about it this way, the first time you rear end the car in front of you, depending how hard, nothing fits after. We are having fun and that makes up for any errors or miscalculations we might find ourselves making. :D

I had a few painted panels from last winter for this car that I bought and got painted. So this door won't be going out for paint, and the one
we took off will be left as is and make a great lettered spare....yes the car will be the same for 2021, accept for some added sponsors

October 20th

We finished the body last night. Special thanks to Bob, Shannon and Chris.
It goes out to PYE Chevrolet for paint. I will drop off the panels this Friday. I expect they should be done by mid November and then we will assemble it before Kirk from Finish Line graphics letters it again.
Here are pictures from the final assembly.

On the weekend Chris White came over to get a few things done on the car as well as unload the big tool box from the trailer. Shannon Riley also worked on the tent fixing and replacing the weak fasteners that hold the wheels on.
Chris and I worked on brakes and the wheel bearings. We found a bearing needing replacement. Chris also found the oil cooler was broken away from it's mount. This happened when the lead went flying into the engine compartment. Not only am I very blessed physically, (Angels deflected the lead) but there was very little damage under the hood. I am so thankful for God's mercy and grace in my life.
Here are some pictures from our last outing on the car.
Lets get at it....lots of room to work

We produced this CD to help us with our racing in 2021.
You can listen to it here. I am asking $10 for the CD plus $5 mail in Canada.

All original songs. David Fitzpatrick, my cousin, produced these songs at his studio in Newfoundland.
David is a great musician, as you will hear. He played for the Fables for years.
