A field of 17 Late Models made opening night. We did okay, not what we wanted but the field of competition is stout and not easy for most to get a chance to win. Shawn Chenoweth had a very serious accident in the second feature, He’s sore but okay, his car is far from that.

Late Model Opening Night May 4th Flamboro Speedway
Well it’s here and we’re ready to go. It’s cool damp, not a typical race day, at least it’s not going to be freezing. I remember in 1978 it was 38 degrees F…3 C, and we froze yes.
Over the years I have never won an opening night feature. Almost did it in the Late Model in 2007 but messed up on a restart and lost to Jason Shaw. Things have changed huge since then, I still have an older race car while many have newer cars. However, David showed he could get this car to the front, but David is a great racer in a Late Model. My best racing is in my Modified, but I do want to have a much better showing this year in the Late Model.
I thank God for all He has given me. A much better outlook and good health. I thank God for my family, crew, friends, sponsors and all those who supported me on here and on face book with great comments and encouragement. I will be posting results by Monday in Diary of A Season 2019.
We made some changes this year in the Late Model to help me feel more comfortable. Better breaking and better view from inside the car. I am excited to get on the track and give it all I can for my crew, sponsors and fans.

Modified Hot Laps A Success
I had the Modified out at Sunset Speedway on Thursday April 26th. The car ran very well, I was excited that all systems were operating great. There were 3 small issues. The car loose off the corners and the nose was scraping on the track…easy fixes. I found out after I had too much stagger, way too much, 6″. I used last years tires to practice and will adjust the proper stagger when we race it. 🙂
Our first race with the Mod is the long weekend in May at Sunset.
The Late Model starts this weekend if it doesn’t rain.

Happy Easter To All My Family and Friends…”He Is Risen”
Easter is the most important time of the year. Not only do we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, but we do with the knowledge that He did this for us, and to show that even death could not hold Him. Those in Him have the same victory.
I have beaten many great racers, many great Dart players but Jesus beat “death” and He did that for us.
John 2:19 while standing in front of the temple in Jerusalem Jesus said “Destroy this temple and I will raise it in 3 days”. Those around Him were confused and stated “it took 46 years to build this temple, how will you raise it in 3 days”? But Jesus was referring to His body the death that was coming to Him in the near future.
Mathew 28:4-6. After His death Mary Jesus mother and Mary Magdalene went to the tomb where He was buried and were in stress that the tomb was open. An Angel asked “Who is it you are looking for”? They replied “Jesus”. The Angel answered “He is not here, He is risen, like He said”. (John 2:19)

2019 OSCAAR Modified Paint Scheme
When I picked up my Mod last year from Creative Edge, Steve and I went into his office to look at some colors for 2019. I picked out a brilliant green.
The 2018 season was good to us, graphic scheme wise, winning Best Appearing Car in both the Late Model and OSCAAR Modified.
I have always painted my cars different, year to year, sometimes not even close to the year before. Our 2019 Late Model paint scheme was totally different than any in the past 8 years, 2010 being the closet to this year. Most people thought I would do the Modified the same as the Late Model, like I did last year. But last years scheme was to celebrate 50 years racing. Our show car will still carry that scheme.
On my way to drop the Modified off I really didn’t want it the same as the Late Model. I wanted something to jump out, because it’s a Modified and I just love the Troyer.
When I arrived at Creative Edge Steve said to me “we doing this the same as the Late Model”? I said “no I want it green and do something wild with it”. So he did and here it is.
When I first saw it I loved what they did. Pictures do not do justice to the look of this car, it has to be seen in person.
The jury may be out on whether this is the best looking car I have ever had, as my son has already stated but for me, it ranks in the top 3 for sure, and maybe it is the best looking race car I have had since 1969.
Family, crew, friends, fans and competitors will let me know.

Late Model Ready For Practice Day
We completed the Late Model on Monday of this week. Troy came early Monday morning to get the basis done. The car was put on stands, with scales. The stands allow the car to be moved back and forth. They are about 18″ off the ground leaving lots of room under the car to do the nut and bolt check and all the levels, trailing arm and center link angles.
The car was raised enough to put string under the tires and magnetic brackets, that look like rulers on the chassis. This allowed us an imperfect but very accurate way to measure ride height. The best way is with “laser beam lighting”, but we don’t have that system. The key is to use the same system all the time for consistency. So, even if it’s not the most accurate, it is consistent. Cars will tell you how they feel depending how fast it enters the corners. Then adjustments are made to allow the car to turn better with adjustments to counter a push or loose feeling.
Once on the scales we were able to see where we were ride height wise and the scales told us our weight distribution. The time consuming process is adjusting the shocks to get the proper cross weight distribution.

The car needs a good cleaning, the timing set and it’s ready for practice.

Show Event At Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC Hamilton April 15th to 20th
