We had a safe run Saturday night. The car was terrible the first 2/3 of the race. We made a pit stop with 40 to go and got the car much better. We would pass the 10th place car but he was one lap down less than us.
Here is a picture provided by Grizzly Photography.
The full race report with photos from both Grizzly Photography and Wing Nut Productions will be up soon on our Message Board in Diary of a Season 2021.

Round 3……July 31st……”East Coast International Pro Stock Tour”
This Saturday we head to New Brunswick for our 4th race of 2021 and the 3rd of 9 in the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour at Petty International Raceway. Hopefully we have good weather, lots of fans and a good turn out. This track is small compared to Riverside International Speedway but it is very fast and things happen quick.
Petty is like a big Varney Speedway, now known as Full Throttle Motor Speedway. I like racing in the Maritimes, but I am still sore after the battle at Riverside. High speed, high bank and lots of g-force. My lower back was very sore on Sunday and still is a few days later….it’s okay when I get up and walk, hopefully it will be when I sit down and race this Saturday.
We are at 853 consecutive nights now. Our team is fantastic, very reliable and have learned lots on the car making things easier for me, and I am very appreciative.

12th At Riverside International Speedway….Round 2 of the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour
We had a good night, trouble free, no damage, an easy week for me and the crew. We are now 7th in the East Coast International Maritime Pro Stock Tour.

Riverside International Speedway….July 24th
This Saturday will be our 3rd race of 2021 and the 2nd for the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour.
Riverside Speedway is a very fast Canadian high bank speedway, faster next to Jukasa Speedway in Ontario.
We don’t have much to do on the car for this weekend, but want to get the brakes fixed and a thorough routine check over.
The full story from last weeks race at Scotia should be up by tomorrow on Diary of a Season 2021.

Race #1 Completed July 10th Petty International Raceway
Opening Day For GEM……..Season #53
Finally we begin our 53rd race season on July 10th 2021. It’s been a while, although in 2020 we started racing on July 4th, so this is a week later. Normally over my career, I would be starting late April or early May, but I am excited to be racing in the 57th River Glade 200 Pro Stock Invitational.
They are calling our cars Super Late Models, not sure why, but that’s the new name for Late Models, turned Pro Late Models, then Pro Stock here in the Maritimes and now Super Late Models.
We’ve had a lot of rain lately, and even now it’s misty with rain in the Truro Nova Scotia area, but the forecast looks good for tomorrow afternoon. We are loaded up and ready to head out first thing in the morning.
Our next promotional flyer should have our new look, although it isn’t much different than this one, perhaps our best looking Late Model ever.

Petty International Raceway Possibly July 10th ….Waiting For Confirmation
It looks like Nova Scotia will be opening up to all the Maritimes. The latest report we have says people can travel in and out of New Brunswick whether they have the vaccine or not. PEI however is forcing everyone to have the vaccine, and if you have been vaccinated you will need to be tested.
Our first race could be July 10th at Petty International Raceway.
I will post a confirmation as soon as I have confirmation.
PS….new designed logo for Strictly Hydraulics soon to be unveiled.
Thanks to Ernie Pothier for this 2020 photo at Petty International Raceway.

Race Season Opening Sometime In July
We started racing in 2020 on July 4th, the United States birthday.
Announcements yesterday from the Nova Scotia Premier and medical advisor suggest we could open up late July if things keep tracking as they are. There are not very cases (17 yesterday), total deaths for Nova Scotia are under 90 since this started and well over 98% of those tested positive have recovered.
The push here is for vaccines, they want to hit 70%. People who get the vaccine are protected (is the message from the experts). So non vaccinated people should not affect vaccinated people.
I will follow as soon as something new comes out.
This picture was taken by Ken MacIssac last September at Riverside International Speedway in Nova Scotia.
The only thing left to do on our car is get it lettered, the car is basically ready for practice, although I think we will go over everything once more to make sure we’re good to go. Nuts and bolts, fluids etc.
