This may have been the most excited I had been for a race, since going to Nova Scotia in 2016. I was very pumped all day and looking forward to racing on the big oval. I thought for sure we had the car to compete. However mechanical problems plagued us every time we went out, a very bad oil leaks, The set up was so far off we didn’t finish on the lead lap 🙁 ……that was very discouraging for me especially, but I’m sure it was for my team and fans as well.
We will make some changes this week, get back to the basics and hope for a better showing this coming Saturday as we return to Jukasa Speedway. I less excited now to go out on the big oval thinking I will have the same car. Hopefully our car is good, we’ll know after the first set of hot laps.
Thanks to Ashley McCubbin for this photo…and the photo’s in Diary of a Season 2018

Jukasa Speedway….June 16th…..OSCAAR Modified’s & Speed
Saturday June 16th we race at Jukasa Speedway for the first of back to back weekends at this amazing huge fast track.
I am ready, the car is ready, I’m hoping my crew are ready, it will be a long day, and we have to move everything in from outside the track. It will be a chore, but once inside we can rest and settle down. This is one race we could use lots of help. It will be hot and a long day. I have prepared things to make it easy getting into the pits, as well. I have a large cooler of water and drinks and some refreshments.
Thanks to Dan Little Jr. for supplying this photo
Hope all our fans are there as well. Thanks for visiting our site.
Flamboro Debut Not Bad…Top 8 In Both Features…..16 Cars
We had a decent run on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway in the Late Model. It was my turn to drive it. Got spun in the first but finished 7th, and got in the wrong lane in the second putting us 12th from 4th on a restart. Overall it was a good run, I was finally competitive with the boys. The full story will be on Diary of a Season 2018 soon.
This weekend we race the Modified at Jukasa Speedway……should be the fastest this car has ever gone, 200K plus. More later this week.
Thanks to Derek Smith for this picture.

Pro Late Model At Flamboro June 9th…Plus 2 Shows This Weekend
This Saturday morning June 9th, I will have my car on display at the Canadian Tire in Waterdown from 10:30 until 2:30. This will be my first of two visits planned for this Canadian Tire location. We are supporting the youth sport drive “Jump Start”. You can make a donation to the store for this cause that helps kids get sports equipment they cannot afford.
Following the CTC show I will head to Flamboro Speedway, it will be my turn to race the Late Model this weekend at Flamboro Speedway. Of course there is a challenge. David won the first feature of the season on May 5th, his first time out, and I will be trying to duplicate his achievement. My goal will be an overall finish of top 5 for the night. I would love to win, looking for career feature win #40, and no time nicer than this weekend.
On Sunday I will have our Late Model on display at the Canadian Tire store, Burlington Mall 777 Guelph Line from 10 until 2pm.
OSCAAR Modifieds are off until June 16th when they race the first of two events at Jukasa Speedway….that will be wild.

Kawartha A Good Night For OSCAAR…..Not So Much For Us
Last time at Kawartha Speedway we ran awesome. Had too much gear but we finished 6th. After our engine was rebuilt we thought we might be more competitive, but so far we haven’t been able to find out. The engine is fixed and in the car, but careless work on our chassis prevented us from running good last night. Our from alignment should be 1/8th of an inch toed out….. a half inch out is bad….we were an inch and a half toed out….finished 12th with 2 ruined front tires. The full story will be on Diary of a Season 2018 by Sunday night.
Special thanks to Rod Henderson for this on track photo…..Thanks to my crew, Brian and Hayden for coming last night and my grand son Gehrig for all his help…..thank you for visiting our site.
Dan Price Engine Out…Ours Will Be In For Kawartha Special June 1st
The last time I pulled an engine out of a race car, other than off season, and not including last weekend at Sunset, was 17 years ago. In fact it was common practice with the inline six engines.
This time I pulled it out alone, just me. It was okay, I knew what to do, but the transmission has gotten a lot heavier than it use to be. As I was trying to ease it down it fell on my chest and ribs. Nothing serious but very sore on my side.I could do them quite easy 20 years ago, not so much now…..hmmm, I think no doubt it’s me.
Special thanks again to Dan Price for loaning, and helping install his engine in our car at Sunset Speedway.
I hope to have our engine back by tomorrow from John Stefco, and then put it in by Thursday night. I wanted to load up Thursday night, but that might have to wait.
Need a few young boys to help get this done in the future. Anyone know anyone in the Hamilton area that would like to help on our team. Most everyone of our crew are busy working and with their own things to do. They help when they can and I am truly grateful. But I could use one or two more crew to join us. I can be reached on face book or my cell is 905-928-8086.

Full Throttle Race Turns Into A Show For Our Team
We went to Full Throttle Motor Speedway on Saturday May 26th only to find out that we were the only car in the All Pro Modified class. FTMS decided in 2018 to have their own Modified series, and allowed cars from OSCAAR and OMRS to race under their own rules. I had added 7 shows for my 2018 schedule but will now keep one for the end of the season but marked two…..TBA.
Meanwhile, our engine is back at Stefco Race Engines and should be ready by Wednesday. I have started pulling out Dan Price engine and will return it to him on Friday at Kawartha Speedway for the OSCAAR Modified race.
More will be written on Diary of a Season 2018 on the show at Varney.
In this photo by Katie MacDonald, Buttons and I are with my crew. Left to right,

OSCAAR Modified Opener Busy But Good
We finally got to race in 2018. The full story is on Diary Of A Season 2018. I appreciate so much my crew for all their hard work, it wasn’t an easy time. We were blessed by not getting wrecked in the second heat. This picture is Ashley McCubbin’s shot. Our car was smoking and competitor Dan Price offered us an engine and I took him up on it. We removed the engine Sunday and installed Dan’s Monday morning.
Special thanks to all my crew and Dan, as well as Duane Cinnamon who apologized for taking us into the wall on the green for the second heat. We survived, but I was anxious at times….lesson learned.

Flamboro Speedway……David Wins First Pro Late Model Feature of 2018
What a night for Gary Elliott Motorsports. After a final check over of the car this past week we were ready to start the 2018 season. My first two race nights were canceled due to weather, giving David the May 12th season opener at Flamboro Speedway.
JR Fitzpatrick was very strong but David stayed close to him all race. During a restart with 8 laps to go David restarted outside and stuck to JR through turns 1 and 2. Something happened to JR’s car and David got the lead, winning by four car lengths. It was an amazing win and was also David’s second feature win in a row at Flamboro, he won the final Pro Late Model feature in 2016……he has set the bar high for me. I start in the OSCAAR Modified series at Sunset Speedway this coming weekend. The next Pro Late Model race is June 9th and I will get behind the wheel…..the full story of this race will be on Diary of A Season 2018 soon…..thanks to Derek Smith of Race Pulse Photography and thank you for visiting our site.
2018 Schedule
Here is our 2018 schedule. David and I will split the racing at Flamboro Speedway in the Pro Late Model. He will race 5 and I was to race 6. However, the terrible snow storm in late April and heavy racing in early May took out two of my nights….April 28th and May 5th. I still have 4 Late Model races to compete in.
I will also compete in the OSCAAR Modifieds, and Full Throttle Motor Speedway’s All Pro Modifieds, giving me a total of 26.
David gets to start the season in our Late Model at Flamboro Speedway on May 12th.
There are no Maritime Pro Stock Tour races this year, but I hope to get back home in 2019 with a good Late Model. Hope to see you at the races this year.
