Long Post But A Record Of Sorts
Our Late Model is already to go after a tough night on September 20th at Scotia Speedworld.
Special thanks to those who helped us, my crew, Shannon Riley, Bob Landry, Chris Hughes Lucas Gilby, Matt Gilby, Dylan Blenkhorn and John Fleming. John showed us how to set the bump steer on our car, something I had never done ever…I didn’t know how, was never shown and didn’t have the equipment.
It was a very important maintenance item to add to our long list now but thanks to John it was a great to know. Also we had the wrong plate and Dylan gave us the wide 5 plate. The car is ready thanks to all these friends and dedicated crew.
HISTORY!!!!!
We are about to do something I have never done before. I have raced double header days, three nights in a weekend and in 1973 four race events Delaware, Friday, Flamboro Saturday and Sunday afternoon and then Pinecrest Sunday night.
This year we took 16 hours to race two tracks, PEI on Saturday night, a 6 hours return back home, got up at 7am and drove to Lake Doucette a 10 hour return trip, 16 hours of driving in 37 hours period.
Well this weekend tops them all. We’re at Petty Raceway on Saturday October 4th for the June 7th rain date. We’ve had a consistent year, not great, but we’re 9th in the standings and want to finish the season in the top 10. We are going to this race to start the heat and feature and stay out of trouble, then immediately at some point, pull off, load up and head to Flamboro Speedway for the Grisdale Triple Crown, the next day, October 5th, a 2PM start.
That race event has been on my schedule since March and we are not missing it.
We will drive at least 15 hours through New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario to get to Flamboro hopefully before noon.
Shannon Riley, Chris White and Buttons are coming as well. All three can help but being blind, not sure Buttons can do much driving but she will sit on my lap when I’m driving.
This will be the first time in my 57 years racing that we travel 15 straight hours for a second weekend race, I know what you’re thinking. But!!!!
I get to see my son and daughter, son in law Derrick Tiemersma, maybe grandson and grand daughter, along with Jim Hulzinga my Ontario crew chief for years, and a few previous crew members will be there including Troy Stere. My crew will be waiting for us to arrive and tires and wheels have already been ordered and will be at the track as well.
We are also doing an event at Glendale Secondary School (11th year) as well on Wednesday October 8th. The students will get to see the race car, do some maintenance and get an autograph card.
We will stay at David and Jeannie’s until Wednesday in Niagara Falls, and meet Shirley and Derrick during the week ❤.
Please pray for a safe journey for us.
Here are the flyers for this weekend featuring all our valued sponsors. The two events will be our 18th and 19th of 2025 and give us 924 consecutive nights on our journey to 1000.
God is good and we have lots of great friends in Ontario and the Maritimes, God bless you all. ❤🙏
