We had our 2nd points race of 2026 and our 3rd race of the year at Petty International Raceway. The rains held off until we got the race over with and almost home.
Our car was decent but I was absolutely wore out. I haven’t been this lacking of energy for a very long time. Something isn’t right, I am usually over a cold or coughing in a few weeks max, but this has been hanging around for 2 months. It’s not every day but it’s too often, knocking me out.
We were short crew today making us all work harder but we got it done. Chris White, Jack Lynds and Melissa Nickerson worked hard allowing us to get in at least 8 sets of practice laps, each session about 30 minutes allowing me to come in and make changes. Our best lap was a 14.0, with the fast car 13.5. Not excuses but I just couldn’t keep up. We finished 7th in our heart race and 13th in the feature and though I was wiped we were able to finish the race with no damage.
Chris had to work harder than normal making changes during the feature with both the sway bar and tire pressure. Melissa watched over Buttons for me, a great help and Jack was fantastic on the radio and making calls to get the car better. As long as I was slow the car was great but that doesn’t work for any of us. I have 2 weeks to get stronger for our next race at Scotia Speedworld and 3 weeks for Riverside the toughest fastest track in Canada.
Here is the rundown from this night and the points standing after this race.
