While waiting for our panels to painted I will post some pictures and stories of the racing with my son David. He was one of the top runners in both the Hobby and Late Model classes.
14 Championships
60 plus Feature wins.
Here is a picture of David’s first win in the Hobby division in 1988.
Check out 52 Years Of Stats to see some of David and my special stats racing together.

Mechanical Repairs Start Now
The body has gone to PYE Chevrolet for paint. They should be ready in 2 weeks giving us time to finish going over the car very thorough. We want to replace the pads, any bent or damaged parts, fix other things that might need attention, basically a complete going over replacing all fluids and making things better that were a pain….mainly the shifter.
I have posted some pictures on Diary of a Season 2020 showing our progress.
I also have 3 proposals out for sponsorship for 2021. We badly need partners for 2020 along with those we have now. God opens doors and so I trust in Him to send sponsors for our team.

Panels Gone To PYE Chevrolet….Now The Complete Check Over
Now that all our panels are prepared, fitted and adjusted, we have sent all the panels to PYE Chevrolet in Truro for paint. I expect will get all the panels back in 2 weeks, maybe a little longer. The time away gives us an opportunity to completely go over the rest of the car and make sure there are no bent, cracked or wore out pieces. The car will be completely shampooed, then put on roll off stands to allow us better access to all the suspension and chassis parts. We will change all the fluids as well.
I hope to have the car pretty well race ready by late November, including lettering.
I have sent out a few proposals for new partners. There have been a few no’s so far, but praying God opens a door for us to get the funds we need for 2021.

Heading To PYE Chevrolet Soon For An Awesome Paint Job
Now that it’s finished all the panels will go to PYE Chevrolet this week and come back a beautiful green. My crew, Buttons, Bob, Chris, Shannon and Tyler have worked very hard and steady to make this happen.
Once it’s painted we will assemble all the parts then Kirk Alexander will do his beautifying with his graphics.
In the meantime we will spend 100 man hours going over the car completely cleaning, checking and updating whatever parts need attention.
There are pictures posted on Diary of a Season 2020 of this last effort.

Body Panels Ready For Paint……How Nice Is That…..Thanks To My Crew
Buttons approves.
We just finished the body panels on the car. The final touches were completed including, trimming the fenders for clearance, body braces, final fit of the hood, the rear bumper, spoiler and rocker panels.
The car goes to PYE Chevrolet for paint the last week of October. While it’s gone we will work on the chassis, cleaning it, thorough inspection of all parts, changing all fluids, battery connections, checking for wore out or loose hime-ends etc.
This will be the quickest I’ve had my car finished for paint, and if we get it lettered and completed by mid November, it will be the quickest race ready project ever…..been fun.
Thanks to Bob, Shannon, Chris and Tyler for spending the time to help get this ready before the snow flies,

Three Days In And We Are Making Great Progress For 2021 Rebuild
Bob, Chris and Tyler came over Wednesday and Thursday to give us a good start on the car. Bob returned on Saturday and with Shannon and I digging in we got the hood and doors fitted. Still lots to do, but a great effort so far.
The panels have to be ready for paint by the 27th of October. When they go out to PYE Chevrolet for paint we can work on the other things that need attention…..like power wash the complete chassis and clean the interior. Then it’s front end, brakes, exhaust etc.
I am very happy how the progress is going so far.

Rebuild Continues
Bob, Chris and Tyler came to the shop twice this week to get the car panels installed and fix a few bent parts, nothing too serious. Our goal is to have the panels, doors, fenders, nose, tail, hood and rocker panels, ready for the final week of October.
Once all the holes are drilled and the body panels riveted in place, they will be removed from the car and sent to PYE Chevrolet for paint.
Special thanks for our sponsor PPG for supplying the paint and materials.
PS….the car will be power washed once all the work is done and panels are out for paint.
We had an oil leak from the power steering that got into the rad. The rad shroud made it impossible to get to the rad, plus at least 4 of the 6 tracks we raced this year were very dusty. Next year we will power wash the car after every race.

2021 Late Model Rebuild Started
I really want to get my Late Model done early for 2021. Bob and Chris came over Wednesday to get started. I bought all the needed parts, 2 front fenders, 2 doors, steel front bumper, a nose, rear bumper cover and rocker panels. Some of our existing parts can be fixed or kept for spares.
Our goal is to have this car completely finished by the end of November.

Quaker State Team Fast At Center For Speed
Action shot by Ernest Pothier.
We had a strong run finishing 8th. It was a great way to end the season, a real confidence builder for 2021.
We did get roughed up, body slammed trying to pass a car clean. He turned into me knocking us off the track, doing body damage and cutting the RF tire.
Later a car spins coming off turn four. He was on the inside and instead of braking lets his car slide up the track, I was coming through and bang.
There was no place to go and I am guessing he was just trying to get away from the traffic heading his way.
The good news for our team is our lap times, very close to the fastest that day. I knew the car was good, it felt awesome, like it did at Riverside only better. This was one of my best races in many years.
I will be doing updates during the off season.
