Double header weekend coming up. Race #4 in the OSCAAR Mod tour will be Friday at Delware Speedway, then we head to Sauble Speedway Saturday for their Mid Season LLM Invitational.
Last year we struggled at Delaware finishing 4th in our heat and 8th in the feature. Our team is hoping to improve this year. Delaware holds an advantage for built and 604 Crates, the bigger track allows the higher horse power engines to use more of their 400 plus HP. Our car has been running strong and we hope to be competitve as we look for our first Modified win……………….PS……been very hectic for me right now, so I will update my Diary of a Season after this weekend. I have been making at least one trip a week to Owen Sound to work on my cars and it’s catching up to me. It’s the way things are and I appreciate so much that Jason Legge has given me a home for my race program and museum, although that is not completely up yet………I am also in the planning stages of running an Outlaw Pro 4 Modified again, possibly twice in July………..The picture posted here, with Matt Smith, Don Mierawinski and Cheryl Smith, was significant for a few reasons, with a lot of firsts.
* our first time at Delaware in this car July 26th 2013
* our first in 5 years to the exact date
* our first ever feature win at Delaware Speedway
We hope to do it again this week in the OSCAAR Modidied. We hope to see our friends and fans at either track.

Fan Appreciation Sauble Speedway
One of my favorite times at a race event is being part of the Fan Appreciaton autograph session. It’s a fun time, we get to meet so many great fans and sign one of our autograph cards for them. All 3 classes came on the track for this one, the CVM, Thunder Cars and Late Models. Buttons joined me but hasn’t learned yet how to “paw” a card.
Thanks to our newest crew member Lloyd for supplying this picture, and many others.
Late Model Has Best Night Yet At Full Throttle Speedway
We didn’t win any races yet at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, but we had our best run this past weekend. Lloyd got his spotters initiation because there was no one else in our crew at the races. Lloyd was a huge help getting our pits prepared and the car ready for practice.
There were only 6 cars, some were missing, otherwise there should have been around 10. We finished 3rd and 4th in both features. We are still under powered with our 602 to race against these Late Models but we try harder each week and tonight we did run better than in the past.
Lloyd got better in the 2nd feature with his debut as a spotter. It’s not an easy job to do, but he learned fast.
Note:
The Thunder Car class have been cancelled from the remaining 2015 schedule.
There will be no more Thunder Car races at Full Throttle this year. Car count was the issue. They had 5 the first night, then 3. So at this point I have lost 3 race nights on my schedule and I will see if there are any places I can race to make those up.
MacMaster GMC Customer Appreciation Day June 27th…Sunset Rained Out
We had our Modified at MacMaster GMC in Orangeville on Saturday from 9:30 until it rained, around 3. Tom and Anne Walters were there as well, with his Late Model.
Lloyd Lariviere, our crew member was there with me, he came from Barrie to help me and I appreciated it very much.
It was a cold damp day but a few people came by. This is the 3rd year in a row for this event. Last year was cold and wet as well. WHERE IS THE 2015 SUMMER!!!!
Our next race is this Wednesday at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, then Saturday we are racing at Sauble Speedway.

We are praying for no rain Saturday, but the forecast isn’t looking good. Calling for rain from the North Pole to Antartica. Last year there was a similar scare, it was to be the mother of all rain storms. People rushed out getting sand bags, rubber boots, canoes, rafts, and fishing line….well!!!….that’s how bad it was suppose to rain, and in the end there wasn’t enough rain to scare the ant population. So I just hope that tomorrow we get this one in. There are many friends coming, including my good friend and step nephew Gary Doucette. Gary will have his own section, he has done amazing work and put a tremendous effort in getting a lot of his friends to come out. He is praying, and Gary is an amazing man with an incredible life changing story…….As well, my longest continually faithful crew member Steffon Zoskey, 1981 till 1999, will be bringing a host of bikers. What a blessing Steffon was to me and still is. I don’t see him anymore, seeing him tomorrow at Sunset would be great, it’s been 2 years since his biker club came to Sunset Speedway.
This will also be the official release of the OSCAAR 25th Anniversary Souvenir Program. The book is beautiful, filled with stories and lots of pictures.
So lots to celebrate tomorrow.
…please Lord, no rain from noon till midnight…we pray. Amen.
Jason Legge Provides New Home For Gary Elliott Motorsports
I want to say again, thank you very much to Jason & Michelle Legge for allowing me to call their shop my home. I now have a place for part of my museum, and my Late Model. I went to the Legger Race Shop on Tuesday and stayed until Thursday to get my bay and side of his huge shop set up. Thanks to Lloyd and Jared for their awesome help. There is much more to do, but we put a big dent in it. I do need to find a home for our Modified at least for the summer, and we hope to move it to the same shop where the Late Model is by October.
This was a ton of work, and travel for me, but I have all my Quaker State memoribilia and product in a safe place, and I can call it home.
Thanks again Jason, I am truly looking forward to helping you with your future racing endevours hoping I can contribute to your success in all you do.
The Mod is stressed right now, but I promised him he won’t be outside much longer.
Quaker State Late Model At John Bear GMC
This week we have our Quaker State Late Model at John Bear Chevrolet Buick in St. Catharines. I pick it up Friday and head north to Full Throttle Motor Speedway to first race the Thunder car for Jason Legge, and then go further north to Sauble Speedway to race our Quaker State Late Model. Hope to see many of our fans and friends at the Full Throttle and Sauble.
Davey Terry #14 Best Appearing Car At The Rick Woolner Memorial
We take great pride in bringing the best looking car we can for the beginning of the season, and keep it that way all year. We do it for our sponsors, and for the fans. When I was just a kid, maybe 5, I always picked the best looking car to win. He didn’t always win, but was still my favorite.
In this picture, it’s clear to see, that we’re not the only ones who take a ton of pride in bringing a good looking machine. Davey Terry #14 and his team always keep their car immaculate as well. The Modifieds have really stepped up their fan appeal with the paint schemes and lettering efforts for 2015, many of them very nice looking cars.
Our team wants to congratulate #14 Davey Terry and his team on winnng the Best Appearing Car for Part 1 of the Rick Woolner Memorial. The fan voting was close between Davey and Gary McLean #8, but the 3 time OSCAAR Champion would have to settle for runner up in the voting……PS…..finishing 2nd in Best Appearing was one thing, but what really hurt, was settling for 3rd in the feature.
Way to go Davey Terry….this great shot provided by OSCAAR photographer Todd D Walden
Quaker State Modified Takes 2nd In Rick Woolner 50 Lapper
Wow, it sure was a wild night for us. 16 cars made it out and most of them were fast. some struggled others will be better next time we go to complete the Twin 50 Memorial race.
Our car was set up Friday by Wylie Motorsports. My son David was a big help as well. It was awesome and quick from the start. I made a mistake, mostly because I was working with my crew to get things organized. They did awesome as well. But in the confusion I forgot to get a transponder and during time trials my laps did not count and we were penalized and had to start last in both heat races. We finished 4th and 7th putting us 12th of 16 cars.
The feature was awesome for us, we ended up 2nd beating a hard charging Gary McLean who paced us the final 12 laps, but closed in on our bumper on the final 2 laps when we got into traffic. We crossed the line in 2nd and both Matt Smith, who did an awesome job spotting, were ecstatic.
Congrats to Shane Sticle on his win, and Gary McLean for a podium finish and racing me clean.
The full story on this race and the past 3 will be updated by Monday on Diary of a Season 2015.
Thank you for visiting our site.
Special thanks to my crew last night, and to Scott and Rick Wylie for gearing us up. 50 laps of no handling issues. Very nice .
