David had a good but frustrating night. His lap times were the fastest all year getting down in the 15:1’s. Losing brakes in the first 30 lap feature hurt us but he still picked up 4th and runner up in the second.
The full story will be on Diary of a Season 2017 soon.

Memorial Night September 8th
David and the team returned from Jukasa Speedway with a good run, no damage, no issues only some cosmetic touch ups and routine maintenance.
Pretty good job with a 10 year old car…..and finished 19th….awesome.
The full story will be on Dairy of a Season 2018 by tonight.

David Finishes 19th In 200 Lap Canadian Short Track Nationals
What a great night for my Late Model team. The boys worked hard to bring our car home in the top 20. Racing against most newer cars, David, Jim, Gehrig, Ed, Jim Sweers, Pete, and Kenny worked hard getting us an impressive finish.
David qualified 35th fastest, had to run the consi with 15 cars and finished 5th.
Great run for David and our Late Model crew.
Meanwhile, Louie Troy and I had the Modified at Sauble Speedway on the weekend. We got Sundays race in, but lost the feature for Saturday night. It was counted as a night by OSCAAR.
The car was terrible and I have no idea what happened, it was the opposite car that we won with just 2 weeks earlier. We did get our 4th win of the season, taking the second heat,
The full story will be on Diary of a Season 2018 as soon as I get more pictures.

David & The Team Finish 19th In Jukasa Speedway 200 Lapper
What a great night for our Late Model team. David drove his heart out to finish in the top 20, scoring 19th of the 45 cars that attempted to make this show.
This picture is with David in the middle of US competitor in the #14 Carson Hocevar, a 15 year old from Georgia, with #21 Matt Pritico outside.
Jim was team leader and coached, Ed, Gehrig, Peter, Jim Sweers, and Ken.
The car could have used another set of new tires for practice, but we did what our budget would allow us and they brought the car home with very little damage.
It was David’s first time on the big 5/8ths oval, the biggest track we race on.
Congrats to David and the boys for a great night of racing and competing against a very stout field with a much older car.
The Modified struggled at Sauble Speedway, but we did pick up a heat win, our 4th checker of 2018. The full story of the races will be on Diary of a Season 2018 by Wednesday, just waiting for more pictures from Sauble Speedway.

Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Sept 2nd…….200 Laps Featuring The Best Drivers In Ontario, Maritimes, As We As US and Alberta……OSCAAR Modified Double Header at Sauble Speedway September 1st -2nd
David will be competing in the Canadian Short Track Nationals on Sunday September 2nd at Jukasa Speedway, formerly Cayuga Speedway. He will have with him Jim Hulzinga, , Ed Askin, Gehrig Halliday, Jim Sweers and Pete Snook. This will be David’s first time on the big 5/8ths oval. I ran on it last year and did pretty good, getting up to 15th of 40 cars and then our carb started acting up, and a close call happened when the oil breather separated and fell into the intake causing the throttle to jam….yes that was scary. David will do fine.
Meanwhile Louie Halliday, Troy Stere, Matt Smith and his son Andrew will be with me at Sauble Speedway racing with OSCAAR Modifieds. Last time there we won, a great win for us. The weather looked bad until today…..how good is prayer 🙂

August 25th…..4th Rain Out In 2018
What a disappointment to lose August 25th. A night where both the Late Model, driven by David, and the Modified, driven by me, was cancelled due to yet another rain out.
That was the 4th rain out, and no chance to get them back.
The picture above is from 1986 in the Hobby club at Flamboro Speedway. It rained all day but John Casale didn’t cancel, he waited till the rain stopped and knowing he would lose fans due to the severe rain (check the puddles in the pits) he waited and got it in, and allowed us to race. John has always been like that. He cancelled the show on August 25th because racers wanted him to cancel because it was raining everywhere, and they threatened they would not be coming, John had no choice to cancel because they said they weren’t coming, and his fans wanted to see the Modified……guess what?…. it cleared up and we could have raced. 🙁
This weekend we will be racing again, David at Jukasa in the Short Track Nationals, a 200 lap race with over 60 very talented racers pre entered. Meanwhile I will be with OSCAAR in the Modified at Sauble Speedway for a double header Saturday and Sunday.
The weather forecast looks bad at both tracks, I am praying we get to race at Sauble and David gets to race with all those travelling race teams at Jukasa, and I hope both tracks get a full crowd and no rain.
I’ve lost too many races already this season due to rain and losing a bunch of shows at Varney because of no cars in the Modified shows Gord planned for us. Are drivers committed anymore?
So I am seeking help from God, and praying for good weather for the tracks, fans and race teams.

Gold Rush A Success….Best Run In A Late Model In 6 Years
We had a very good run in the Late Model at the Gold Rush, Thank you Lord for keeping all the drivers, crews, fans and staff safe and giving us a strong performance.
Thanks to John Casale for allowing the Pro Late Models to run the Gold Rush this year, it was an awesome pay day for us.
Also want to thank my team, Jim, Louie, Stephen, Hayden and Buttons for making the day one of my best in this class in many years…6 at least. We qualified 11th, got up to 8th, got spun out twice, but we finished 12th 🙂
The full story is on Diary of a Season 2018.
Thanks to Dave Franks for taking this awesome photo.

Celebrating With Buttons & The Boys
After our feature win, we had many fans come over to congratulate us an get an autograph card, some kids sat in the car.
It was a great night for all of us.
The full story is completed now on Diary of a Season 2018….click on Message Board and then General Chat and you will see all the race reports from 2007 including
“49 Years of Stats”.
Our next race is this Sunday, the Flamboro Speedway “Gold Rush”.
I will be driving the Late Model, but taking it easy because this race is a non points event and should be loaded with many great cars from the APC series.
Our car is good, but it’s 8 years old and the week after, the 25th of August, David has a chance to qualify for the Jukasa race “Pro Late Model Nationals” and will need the car to be good, not beat up. I want to make the show and take it easy.

A Night To Remember For My Team
It surely was a great night of racing for our team. I have not yet posted the race because I have been waiting for pictures and just got them tonight so I will do my Diary of a Season 2018 up date tomorrow.
Meanwhile this was my 122nd race win and 19th feature win since I turned 50 years old. I didn’t realize I had that many, as well as 103 heat wins. I have truly been blessed, thank you Lord.
We have also moved to 3rd in the OSCAAR Point standings, and what a great deal for my team if we can hold on to 3rd. Great crew this year and wish they all could make it but it’s not possible, so I very much appreciate those who do come out when they can. Family and work come first naturally, but any help any time is always welcomed for me to keep racing and for them to enjoy being part of our team.
Next race is this weekend on Sunday for the Flamboro Speedway Gold Rush and I am sure that will be a wild one with a full field. I plan to race in it, but don’t plan to do anything but get in and take it easy. We are 5th in Flamboro Speedway points and have a shot at the title if things go good for us over the next final few points races.
David will compete in the remaining points events in the Late Model, I will be running the Modified.
David is also signed up to drive my Late Model (his from 2 years ago) in the Jukasa
Pro Stock Nationals on September 2nd. I’ll be in Sauble that weekend. More on all that’s going on with GEM over the next few weeks.

40th Career Feature Win……Sauble Speedway August 11th
We got the feature win at Sauble Speedway Saturday. What an awesome night for us. The car was great from the last race at Peterborough Speedway, and through practice and heat races at Sauble.
This was our 40th career feature win a goal we wanted to reach soon. Thank you Lord for all your many blessings, my family, friends, crew, fans and sponsors.
