Wow, I am absolutely honored to be inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame for 2022 with all the great inductees.
Congratulations to all the inductees, well deserved.
This could be my longest post ever on my website.
There are so many to thank, I don’t want to leave out any, so forgive me if I do ❤️
First I thank God for bringing me into this sport, and I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with all I needed.
Thank you Danny Huff for nominating me, you’ve always been an incredible dedicate fan of both David and I.
Thanks to Joe Chisholm and Jim Hulzinga for sending letters of recommendation to the CMHOF.
My parents, who are both in Heaven, thank you Dad and Mom, you taught me a lot and to always enjoy this sport. Sometimes we debated whether to go to a Drive-In or Stock Car Races. My sister Beverley wanted the Drive-In, I didn’t always win that battle. Going to the races was an easy choice for me. My parents took my sister and I to many races, mostly at Pinecrest Speedway…but at 5 years old we went to Oakwood Stadium, and from then on I was putting numbers on all my toy cars.
Thank you Nonie for getting me through so many tough race weekends over the years and encouraging me not to give up….oh and the kids.
I am so blessed to have two children, David and Shirley, thank you for always being there for me, and Jeannie and Derrick for taking care of my children by marrying and loving them. My grand kids Gehrig and Lauren who will both be at Flamboro and Peterborough Speedway when I return this October to race, love you both. ❤
Thanks to Bill Grisdale for helping me when times were tough, giving me and Buttons a great place to live and rebuild. ❤
Thanks to all the race track owners and promoters, without you I couldn’t do what I love. Special thanks to John and Frank Casale where I spent most of my career racing and look forward to returning on October 2nd.
I thank the Canadian Vintage Modifieds for the 33 years of my career, racing the Coupes and making great friends.
Thanks also to OSCAAR and Dave Gainforth for giving me an incredible send off when I left Ontario after 51 years racing. I so much appreciate the “Iron Man 72…Twin 36’s”.
To Jim Hulzinga, Steffon Zoskey, (both being with me for almost 20 years) my crew from Ontario, too many to mention, you helped me endlessly, Richard Richie, Bob Periera and Troy Stere. Don Roth for his amazing support early in my career, teaching me many good habits and being a great friend during my Mini Stock days.
My current awesome crew who have all been with me for the past three years. Shannon Riley, Bob Landry, Chris White, Tyler Hallahan, Jack Lynds and Alex Coggins, you all are such a blessing to me.
All my sponsors over the years have made this journey possible and I always have been so appreciative of them and their incredible support.
Quaker State and I will celebrate 50 years together in 2023 and will achieve 50 years racing in 2024. ❤
To my incredible fans, love to see you all at the races and do whatever possible to make your visit to the race track a blessing.
To all the track owners and staff, thanks for the work you do and your many kind words. ❤
Since coming to Nova Scotia I have met many great people and have totally enjoyed racing in the very tough and competitive East Coast International Pro Stock Tour.
Oh by the way….I’m not done yet. I am still enjoying this amazing sport and want to go as long and as far as God will allow me with good health and awesome sponsors.
Thank you all for the kind words and your amazing, loved support.
❤ ❤ ❤️
Mike Stevens Memorial 200….29 Cars…We Finish 15th
We ran the Mike Stevens Memorial on Saturday night at Petty International Speedway. It’s a very fast short high banked track. We started 25th, went down a lap but took the checker in 15th place.
Our next race is Saturday September 24th at Scotia Speedworld, our final East Coast International Pro Stock Tour race. We are 6th in points, only 10 out of 5th. We would love to finish 5th, but we leave the next morning for Ontario and want to head west with no damage.
I may not be able to update my web white I’m gone, but I will try to for sure.
Thanks to Inscapes Design & Print for this flyer.

Tough Night At Riverside International Speedway…But we Move Up In Points
We had a disappointing night on Saturday at Riverside. The car was really good, handling awesome. We stayed close to cars and were the lucky dog at lap 80. However a leak from the quick change was too bad to stop or temporarily seal, forcing us to park the car with 70 to go.
The full story of our 13th night of the year, and our 872nd consecutive is on Diary of a Season 2022, found by clicking on the Message Board and then on General Chat.
Thanks to Ken MacIsaac for this photo and thanks to you for visiting our site.
East Coast International 150…… September 10th Riverside International Speedway
This Saturday will be the 11th of 12 scheduled East Coast International Pro Stock Tour races.
This will also be our 13th race of the year and the most since Covid. We will celebrate our 872nd consecutive night, a streak that started on June 5th 1987. Our goal is 900, but some are suggesting me to try 1000…..I don’t know about 1000, though it would be crazy to reach 1000 consecutive nights.
We will hit 877 this year if we have no rain outs, that would leave 23 nights for 900 and 123 for 1000.
I will leave up to my God to provide me the strength, health, sponsors, crew and desire to reach 1000.
Meanwhile we look forward to 2023, our 50th year with Quaker State, and then 2024 to have achieved 50 seasons with our amazing sponsor. In 2 years we can advertise 1974 to 2024, although 2023 is our 50th.
I still have diescasts available but getting close to the cut off point. So far of the 700 ordered, 496 have been asked for and we haven’t really advertised much.
If you would like a Diecast please get in touch with me at 905-928-8086.

Top 10 At Petty Moves Us Closer To 6th In Point Standings
We had a good run on Saturday night at Petty Raceway. The car handled great, we were faster the last 40 laps than most teams, also passing cars in the final 30 laps.
Thanks to Rye Grizzly Chapman for this photo.
The full report on our 12th race of 2022 will be on Diary of a Season 2022 by Wednesday night.

Petty International Raceway A Success For Us On August 27th
We ran our 12th night of the season and the 10th in the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour.
The car count wasn’t the best, but every race division for the most part is struggling a little, but not all.
We finished 10th in this race and had a strong run the final 30 laps.
The full story will be on our Message Board Diary of a Season 2022 very soon. I am getting pictures as well, need them to tell a more full story.

Quaker State Team Looses Clutches In Center For Speed 150
This was our second time at Center for Speed located near Shediac New Brunswick. I was very much looking forward to racing on this oval that reminds me much of Ontario tracks, flat, wide and little banks. It does have very wide turns.
We struggled in the warm ups but got it going in the heat race after some changes by our crew. We had a great run in the heat finishing 3rd but did not finish the feature with the clutches slipping bad enough we couldn’t finish. We completed 120 of 150 laps.
Thanks to Ernest Pothier for supplying this photo 🙂

Return To Center For Speed….Shediac….Invitational
This Sunday we will be in Shediac New Brunswick at Center For Speed for their Pro Late Model 150.
Tyler Hallahan usually comes with us but will be racing at Riverside International Speedway in his Mini Stock Invitational.
We will have most of our crew with us. Alex Coggins has to work as well. Shannon Riley, Bob Landry, Chris White and Jack Lynds will be there and of course Buttons. We will miss Alex and Tyler.
Looking forward to this race, hoping for a podium and no damage as we compete in our 11th race of 2022, the most races since 2019. Hope to see many fans at the race. Should be excellent weather.

Summer Clash 250…..We Had 11th Fastest Lap
Another 250 lap race is in the books, though we had a rough start with a flat tire on the green to start the race, our team persevered to finish 14th, eleven laps down. We lost most all of those laps
at the start of the race, had we not been so unfortunate to get a RF flat, we may have finished in the top 7 for this long race. My son David Elliott spotted for us and coached our amazing crew through changes on the car to make it better and Dad (me) run a little harder.
The highlight of this race, besides not getting beat up was our best lap time of 14:686. It was the 11th fastest of 25 cars.
Special thanks to Ken MacIsaac for this great picture.
I am currently working on Diary of a Season 2022, should have it done by Thursday. Seems to take a long time to get good pictures, but we have a few and I am waiting for a few more.
Go to the left side of this page, click on Message Board, then General Chat. You will see all the topics from “53 Years Of Stats” to Diary of a Season 2008.
