Car Runs Great But Tough Night For US At Riverside International Speedway on June 27th….

We had our 5th race of 2026 and the 4th points race in the Fort Garry Industries Pro Stock Tour.  It was special event with NASCAR Canada as the main show.   The rains came and went after 4:30 dragging the show on and almost having it cancelled. The NASCAR Canada series could not return Sunday because many of the drivers had booked flights.
We made 2 quick hot lap sessions. During the second set we were leaking oil. Austin MacDonald told me he got oil on his windshield.  We found it was from the transmission tail stock seal.  I was able to get a seal but it was quite impossible for me to get it out.  I was under the car trying to pry the old seal out but it wouldn’t budge because I couldn’t get a good angle on it.  My neck was getting tired trying to hold it up.  I had maybe 3″ of room from my chest to the transmission.    Troy, not one of or regular crew members, was under the car with me.  He got me a coat for my head that was picking up small stones on the pit pad.  One of the series staff, Trevor, came by and told me there would be no heats in this race night but we would be drawing for starting position.  I said I want to go to the back so he put me down for 19th.
We kept working on the seal, but it started raining again, I was getting soaked even under the car.  My fire suit was drenched. It was so frustrating.
I decided to give up on trying to replace the seal I got from Nicholas Naugles dad, because I couldn’t get the old one out. I returned it and one of the boys from R&D Performance came by with a seal, as we had asked them originally but no one was in the trailer. I decided we would get that done Monday.
I put the driveshaft back in with the help from Chris, then Troy and I taped a rag around the old seal that was damaged even more with me trying to pry it out.
The rain had stopped and we got ready for the 150 lap feature, but it would be short lived.
The car was actually handling very well and for the most part of the 18 laps we ran, we weren’t too fart behind.
On about lap 17 coming off turn 4 the car got loose.  That was a warning because the very next lap coming off turn 2 the car whipped around.  I know it was the oil getting on the tires,  but I didn’t think it would be that bad…..oh it was.
We ended up 19th, disappointing for sure but our pre race prayers were answered by no damage to our car other than the seal and it did not affect any other team.
Congrats to Nicholas Naugle and his team on winning their second feature in a row.
Here is the recap
