We travelled to PEI for the 3th of 10 race events at Oyster Bed Speedway. Chris White, Jack Lynds and Melissa Nickerson made the trip. Shannon Riley was suppose to work but Buttons wasn’t doing well and she thought it would be too hard on her to make this long trip. I agreed. Shannon decided to take the day off work and stay at home with Buttons .
We went our for fist practice and the car was terribly lose. We made a light adjustment and went out again and this time spun out.
We decided to put more wedge in tee car so we took a turn off the LF, 2 off the RR and 1 on the RR. we reset the bar and went back out.
This time the car was much better but still slightly loose but not near as bad.
We added a half turn on the var, making it 2 1/2 and went back out. This time the car was very good and we turned our fastest laps this year at OBS. IB July 25th we couldn’t get below 14:00 on new tires but this time we had back to back 13’d, a 13:95 and a 13:85. We were excited about this because we were on very old tires with at least 20 cycles on them and likely 150 laps or more.
A few more changes and we headed out for the next set bit didn’t get out of 1st gear when something broke and I could not put the car in any gear. I thought I blew the transmission. We were pushed back into the pits and put the car on stands. We discovered it wasn’t the transmission, When we turned the rear wheels the driver shaft didn’t move, but when the tranny was put in gear it locked up.
Chris removed the quick change cover and found a broken pinion shaft, the one that works the top gear. When he moved the top gear it flopped over.
Our night was done. We were looking forward to getting in the 13:6’s on newer tires but it wasn’t meant to be. We loaded up and headed home.

Our next race is September 12th at Riverside International Speedway. Then the Mike Stevens Memorial on the 19th at Petty International Raceway and the final points race on September 26th at Scotia Speedworld. .
Then we head to Ontario for Twin 72’s at Flamboro and close out the season at Peterborough for the Autumn Colors Classic. .
