My heart is broken as I let my racing fans know that Buttons has passed away at 2:45 am on late Saturday night, early Sunday morning.
We didn’t take her to PEI because she hadn’t been feeling good and the 3 hour drive and long day would have been too much for her. Shannon took the day off work and stayed with Buttons.
As reported earlier here, we broke our quick change and couldn’t race Saturday night and left for home around 4:30. We got back a little after 8:30 and Shannon told me Buttons wasn’t doing very well. I rushed in the house before we unloaded the car and hugged her. She was responsive but not strong to get up.
We took her to bed with us as always, and petted her as she pay between us. She took her last breath while being loved and cuddled.
Born on July 6th 2009, Buttons was my granddaughters gift in 2009. She soon became a family pet growing closer to me. In 2012.we were very close and she started coming with me everywhere I went in my truck.
In early 2015 it was just Buttons and I and she helped bring happiness to me as we lived together until her passing on August 30th 2026.
I am heartbroken. She was blind and had fought off many health issues but I never stopped loving her in her sickness and recovery. I miss her so much now and break down every day as I see her in my truck, and everywhere I go but she’s not there.
I thank God for her and the many answered prayers. In 2022 she got very sick and the vet suggested I put her down. I was destroyed and prayed hard with tears that God would heal her. She was only 13 and I reasoned with God that she should live to at least 15. He gave me close to 4 more years with her.
I won’t get over this for a while, we’ve been together for 12 years and 24/7 since 2015. . Everything seems empty now with her gone even though she struggled, I still loved her more and more.
God is good.
