September 19th
We made our first Mike Stevens Memorial in a few years. Our good friends from New Brunswick, Robbie Fraser and Rachelle Reid talked me into coming to the race and helped us with 2 tires in the 6 tire race.
This was a very tough deal with the severe wreck we had on September 12th at Riverside Speedway. I put in over 35 hours to get this done. With help from our crew and zi was so determined to get the car ready.. we worked on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday We were done by Wednesday night and spent only $200. The damage was mostly all cosmetic accept for the frame which was bent from the control arms forward. No Other parts on the car were damaged from that race accept the front steel bumper, body braces and some body fixing. Shannon Riley, Chris White, Scott McLean, Bob Landry and Jack Lynds all contributed to get this car ready in plenty of time. I personally was exhausted by Thursday but the 2 days before the race helped me recover.
We left home around 7 am and arrived before 9 am.
We had a nice pad to work on and got busy with tire selection and getting them mounted. It was a mandatory 6 tire race.
Practice was good for us, better than I expected. We made a few adjustments each time out. In time trials we scored 222nd of 22 cars.
We started 6th in our heat race of 6 cars. On laps one the 4th place car broke a suspension part going into turn one and rammed the 5th place car taking them both out of the race. We stayed fairly close to the remaining 4 cars, not that far behind. On the white flag coming off turn four, the 2nd and 3rd place cars tangled and I was able top top pass them both on the outside to claim 2nd in that race, our best heat finish all year………to be continued soon….
