Wow, it sure was a wild night for us. 16 cars made it out and most of them were fast. some struggled others will be better next time we go to complete the Twin 50 Memorial race.
Our car was set up Friday by Wylie Motorsports. My son David was a big help as well. It was awesome and quick from the start. I made a mistake, mostly because I was working with my crew to get things organized. They did awesome as well. But in the confusion I forgot to get a transponder and during time trials my laps did not count and we were penalized and had to start last in both heat races. We finished 4th and 7th putting us 12th of 16 cars.
The feature was awesome for us, we ended up 2nd beating a hard charging Gary McLean who paced us the final 12 laps, but closed in on our bumper on the final 2 laps when we got into traffic. We crossed the line in 2nd and both Matt Smith, who did an awesome job spotting, were ecstatic.
Congrats to Shane Sticle on his win, and Gary McLean for a podium finish and racing me clean.
The full story on this race and the past 3 will be updated by Monday on Diary of a Season 2015.
Thank you for visiting our site.
Special thanks to my crew last night, and to Scott and Rick Wylie for gearing us up. 50 laps of no handling issues. Very nice .
Rick Woolner Memorial Part 1
Tonight the OSCAAR Mods will race the first of two 30 lap features in memory of Rick Woolner. We are looking forward to being part of this memorial race, and the challenge that Full Throttle Speedway brings. It will be even more exciting with 18 to 22 cars.
David and I spent 7 hours on Friday, in New York, with Scott and Rick Wylie, setting up our car and making changes to get us around the ends better. We won’t know the fruits of our labour until we get on the track….and that will be very soon.
Hope to see lots of fans and race cars.
Thanks to Matt Smith for creating this race promotion flyer.
Sun Sets Below Quaker State Chevy
Had some computer issues this past few days and wasn’t able to get up dated as quickly as I wanted. Please bare with me, I am in chaos right now for a short time, moving and finding a good place to keep my Mod. The Late Model is at Jason Legges and the Modified is outside with a tarp over it. Hmmmm, not what I expected but things will get better….I know it.
We raced the Late Model Friday night. Marty, Paul, Glenn, Scoob and Lloyd made up our Quaker State pit crew. We did succeed in being much better by the 2nd feature than we were in the first, although we finished 5th in each. A few more changes and we will be little closer to the Outlaw Late Models that are dominating right now. We have to make a big leap to close the gap, and then a few bigger ones to run with these unlimited Late Models.
Here is a great picture by TW Robarts. You would think I would have felt that blast of heat under the car, but as bright and big as it looks, it was out in a split second….oh yes, and that’s a good thing……I will be updating our site every day now for the rest of the week. A lot happened last weekend and another big weekend coming. Watch for the full story on Diary of a Season 2015.

Thunder Car A Fun Ride At Full Throttle
May 29th Full Throttle Speedway. The 1988 Monte Carlo was fun to drive, it just needs a few tweeks to get it better. This night was just a shake down, and we learned a lot. This car had been parked for two years, and then Jason had it rebuilt. Once the car is finished, we will be looking forward to the next outing on June 19th at Full Throttle Speedwat and possibly a new Quaker State paint scheme.
This Friday we will be at Full Throttle racing our Late Model and racing again on Saturday at Sunset Speedway with OSCAAR in our Quaker State Lincoln Welders Modified. Can’t wait for either race. We have made some changes in the Late Model as well and hope to be much more competitive this time at the short fast high banked oval.
More to come on Diary of a Season 2015 soon. You can find Diary of a Season 2015 by going through our Message Board, and then General Chat………… Thank you for visiting our site.
Driving Jason Legge’s Thunder Car #36….Full Throttle Speedway
On Friday night we had our first run in Jason Legge’s 1988 Monte Carlo. Corey and Ron brought it to the track and Marty, Paul and I helped get it ready. The full story will be on Diary of a Season 2015 very soon.
It was a night for shake down only, first time this car has been on the track in 2 years, but it was fun. Wishing Full Throttle a successful season and hoping to see more Thunder Cars support the track.
Just like our Late Model we promise to come back with the right stuff next time. Tires and set up are all we need.
Crew members Marty Paul and Corey. Ron was here, but missed this picture photo op.

The Modified was rained out at Flamboro Speedway, but we don’t lose the race. That’s good because the Modified schedule isn’t very many races. It is rescheduled for August 29th, but we are committed to Sauble Speedway that night, and that means I need to get Jason to fill in for me. I am sure he will be good with that. 🙂

This weekend coming is a double header. Friday night at Full Throttle in the Late Model and Saturday at Sunset in the Modified.

Full Throttle Speedway Late Model Opener May 22nd
Full Throttle Friday night was the coldest its been since February, well it sure seemed like it. Minus one, and zero most of the time. We had more trouble trying to keep warm than anything else, but we had a fun night and learned a ton of things. We do know for sure that 8″ tires won’t work against 10″, but tonight was more of a test than anything else.
I want to thank Glenn, Scoob, Corey, Matt, PauL and Lloyd for coming out. The car count was low but our spirits weren’t and we will get things much better for our next outing at the fast little oval. There will be more Late Models as well.
The full story will be on Diary of a Season 2015 very soon, I am in the middle of moving and things are hectic for me right now. I hope to be operating on all cylinders soon.
Thanks to Tw Robarts for this great picture.
Tonight we will debut our Late Model at Full Throttle Speedway. We hope to run every Late Model show in 2015, and can accomplish this with the help of Jason Legge and Glen Schnurr who will fill in for me while I am driving the Modified.
The weather looks great and some of our crew, Matt Smith, Lloyd Lariviere, Paul Douglas, Glen Schnurr, Coery Adams and
Hope to see lots of fans and drivers to support Full Throttle Speedway.
GEM & Jason Legge Team Up For Sauble & Full Throttle
I am very happy to announce that Jason Legge Racing and Gary Elliott Motorsports has teamed up for 2015 to run the full Late Model schedule at Sauble Speedway. Jason is driving 3 of the 10 nights in our Quaker State Impala, while I race in the OSCAAR Modified series. I will run the other 7 shows as listed on our 2015 race schedule.
Jason has also been gracious to allow me space to keep my Late Model and much of our racing history at his shop located a mile from Spring Mount just outside Owen Sound, not far from Sauble Speedway. I am very happy about that as well.
Jason ran our Late Model on opening night at Sauble Speedway on May 16th and ran very well taking a 5th and 2nd in the heat races and a 7th in the feature. Jason was getting use to the car, it was the first time he raced in in competition with our car. Afterwards he said “this is the best car I have driven”.
Our next show is this coming Friday at Full Throttle Speedway. We are hoping to run every Late Model race at Full Throttle in 2015.
I will race 7 nights in our Late Model and either Jason, or one of the other drivers, perhaps Glen Schnurr will fill in when I am away in the Modified. We are also fielding a Thunder Car on Friday nights and again hope to make every Thunder Car show. There will be 7 in total and I am scheduled to run 5 of those.
Looks like we are going to have a fantastic race season….thank you Lord.
Great Start To The OSCAAR Season
On Saturday May 16th the 13 race OSCAAR Modified season began at Sunset Speedway. Our goal this year is to win the series championship. It will be a real challenge for us, there are lots of fast cars, but no championship is easy. Our crew were awesome this weekend. Marty, Billy, Jim and Karen kept busy getting us through tech, sizing tires and making sure we were ready for our first set of hot laps. Matt and Jon were unable to make it this day, Matt had to work and couldn’t get to the track. Hopefully they can make our next show at Flamboro Speedway on May 30th.
We had a great run in the heat races, taking 3rd in the first and then grabbing our first win of the season in the second heat race. We started 6th in the feature. It was a hard fought battle. Our car was a little loose on entry but other than that it was pretty good. We had some awesome battles with other cars dicing back and forth in the top 5, but we crossed the line in 5th, giving us a great night.
The full story of this night, including the roof height fiasco is on Diary of a Season 2015, located on our Message Board.
Next week we run at Full Throttle Speedway in our Late Model.
More updates on David Elliott, and Jason Legge later this week.
