We made it again for the Wednesday night Dash For Cash. We had a busy well installing new spindles for our car as well as some better brake pads.
There were 13 cars, not everyone comes to this race because Thursday is practice and it’s easier for them to buy a few sets of practice tires and come in and out quick to get the best set up for the big race on Saturday, the IWK250.
There was still a decent crowd for the DFC. We did not have new tires to practice but we did have new tires for the race. The car handled well but we could not get below 15:0 on the stop watch. The elite cars were in the low 14:3’s but in time trials they were in the 14:1’s.
We started last in our heat race and finished 7th.
We kept making small but better changed to the car for the 75 lap DFC.
Our car has been handling good the past two weeks and was good again today. We had a good feature with Jack making changes for the better and Shannon looking after pretty well everything else.
We also had Ray and Thomas Doucette, as well as Troy who were very helpful and Jason Roberts, a Street Stock racer I had just met the day before at Glen Haven Manor Nursing home when I played there the day before.
We would end up going down 2 laps but crossed the line in 9th, making enough money to pay for our tires, fuel for the car, truck and the crew. I was happy with that outcome because there no damage to the car, an important factor as I race on a shoe string budget this year.
We have maintenance to do on the car for the big race on Saturday, but not much else.
I’m very happy to finish the race with no damage. A tough way to race, but I love racing and always feel I’m on egg shells with our budget….but God is good and answers prayers for protection during the race.
