We ran our 15th race of 2026 at Flamboro Speedway for their first Junior Hanley Twin 72’s. I had great help here with Shannon Riley, David Elliott, Jim Hulzinga, Gehrig Halliday, Troy Stere and Eddie Askin all contributing to help us through this day. It wasn’t what I hoped for unfortunately. The car wouldn’t work for me, always feeling like it wanted to come around.
I drove as hard as I could in the first 72 finishing 12th of 14 cars. It was a terrible turn out for such a legend as Junior Hanley. We had changed the gears from 569 to 549 after warm ups but didn’t help. I think also, with us going to be at Glendale Secondary school on Wednesday, I didn’t want any damage, so I drove too conservative, but that’s what happens with a low budget team that has lots of commitments.
In the second feature we started last again and ran out of radios, I could not hear my spotter. David did the spotting for the day but not being able to hear him made it impossible to feel comfortable staying on the track, so I pulled to the infield. Disappointing, but everyone agreed it was the best decision.
With no damage or mechanical issues other than a power steering leak, we finished the night 13th overall, and yes disappointing. ”
Our next event is Wednesday October 7th at the high school. I’m looking forward to that special moment to encourage kids about racing and the opportunities for them in the automotive sector for employment.
Special thanks to Peter De New for making this day work. We look forward to being with the students and showing our car..
